Amazon Leo

Amazon Leo – Enterprise LEO Satellite Connectivity

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s new low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network, engineered to deliver ultra-reliable, high-speed broadband to enterprises, governments and remote operations around the world.

Previously known as Project Kuiper, the programme has now entered a new phase under the Amazon Leo brand — reflecting its readiness for commercial deployment, expanded enterprise focus, and integration with Amazon’s global cloud and networking ecosystem.

At Clarus Networks, we integrate Amazon Leo into our multi-orbit, hybrid connectivity portfolio, offering customers a powerful new option for high-performance, resilient connectivity across even the most challenging environments.

Amazon Leo Technology Explained

Amazon Leo operates in low Earth orbit (590–630 km), using a constellation of over 3,200 satellites designed to provide global, low-latency connectivity.

Each satellite communicates with ground gateways and user terminals developed by Amazon, while advanced beamforming technology dynamically manages bandwidth to meet demand.

Amazon Leo’s system is supported by Amazon’s AWS cloud infrastructure, enabling edge computing and network management at scale — ensuring secure, reliable data transfer between space and terrestrial networks.

Key Benefits of Amazon Leo

1. High-Speed, Low-Latency Performance

Amazon Leo’s architecture enables download speeds up to 400 Mbps for standard terminals, and up to 1 Gbps for enterprise or government configurations, supporting real-time applications, cloud access, and data-driven operations.

2. Global Reach

With more than 3,200 satellites planned, Amazon Leo will deliver truly global broadband coverage, connecting businesses, communities, and critical infrastructure where fibre and cellular networks cannot reach.

3. Network Resilience and Redundancy

The Amazon Leo constellation is designed with redundancy and cross-linking to ensure continuous, stable service, even under adverse environmental conditions or high network demand.

4. Scalable for Enterprise and Industrial Applications

From single-site operations to complex, multi-site global networks, Amazon Leo can be scaled to support energy, utilities, emergency services, construction, and maritime industries with enterprise-grade reliability.

5. Seamless Integration with Existing Systems

Amazon Leo complements 4G, 5G, and other satellite networks, allowing organisations to create hybrid connectivity environments with intelligent load balancing and redundancy for maximum uptime.

6. Sustainability and Space Safety

Amazon has made space sustainability and safety a core principle of Amazon Leo, ensuring responsible satellite operations and minimal orbital debris through de-orbiting and collision-avoidance technologies.
